Mr. Richard Brown, Sr., the principal of Beauregard High School, has been an innovative educator for thirty years. As a graduate of Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama, he began his career as a science teacher and a football, basketball, and baseball coach at Cleburne County High School in Heflin, Alabama, in 1969. He came to Beauregard High School two years later in 1971 as a science and physical education teacher and as the head basketball and baseball coach and the assistant football coach. He became the head football coach in 1973 and served successful coaching seasons in all three sports, while starting and coaching in a summer youth program for the community. Although his coaching career ended in 1979 when he became the principal of Beauregard, his interests in sports has never subsided. He is directly responsible for the building of each of our sports complexes. He has been instrumental in helping to make Beauregard High School a modern and progressive educational institution.

Mr. Brown has been active in all areas of the educational arena. He received his Master's Degree in Administration from Troy State University in 1977 and his Specialist Degree in Administration from Auburn University in 1988. He was recognized by the Governor of Alabama in 1992 with the Distinguished Governor's Award for Educational Leadership, and he serves as President of the District IV Secondary Principals' Association, as well as remaining active in the Alabama Athletic Association
